What is Infant Sleep Training?

Infant sleep training is all about helping your baby develop healthy sleep habits in a gentle and supportive way. Meaning, teaching your baby to fall asleep, and back to sleep, independently in their own separate sleep space ,which could be in their own room or in your room.
It starts with understanding your baby's sleep needs and creating a cozy, safe sleep environment. A consistent bedtime routine, like a warm bath and a bedtime story, helps signal that it's time for sleep. I also focus on managing feeding times to avoid your baby relying on feeding to fall asleep and encouraging self-soothing techniques.

Parents play a crucial role, and consistency is key. I address temporary sleep regressions and ensure your baby's overall health is considered, promoting activities during the day that help set a natural sleep-wake cycle. The goal is to improve your baby's sleep quality, reduce your sleep deprivation, and support your baby's development. With a personalized approach, I help foster healthy sleep habits that benefit the whole family.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Do I really need a certified sleep consultant to help my baby sleep through the night?

If you feel like you’ve tried it all, it may be time to consider hiring a certified sleep consultant. While not all families will experience the necessity for a sleep consultant, it does not devalue your position as a parent. My experience and education will allow me to offer helpful advice and strategies for your little one that you may not have known of otherwise.

What if I have multiple children with different sleep issues.

Each child is unique, and I can create personalized sleep plans for each child based on their individual needs and sleep challenges. We can work together to establish routines that cater to the specific requirements of each child while maintaining a harmonious sleep environment for the entire family.

Do your sleep training methods involve Cry It Out?

As a certified pediatric sleep consultant, I respect different parenting philosophies and understand that "cry it out" methods may not be suitable for everyone. I offer a range of sleep training techniques, including gentler methods that minimize crying, based on your comfort level and your child's needs.

It is also important to know that your child is likely to cry in protest of the new routines and structure added to their schedule. This is how young children communicate, and it is important to be attentive and responsive but not without boundaries preventing them from developing healthy sleep habits.

Do you only work with infants?

I specialize in working with infants, including helping families establish healthy sleep habits right from the start. From gentle sleep routines to creating a cozy sleep environment, I'm here to support parents in ensuring their little ones get the rest they need. So yes, working with infants, including infant sleep, is my passion, and I'm dedicated to setting families up for success from day one!

How long should I expect the process to take?

The time it takes to see improvements in sleep can vary depending on the baby and the specific sleep challenges. However, In many cases, with my infant sleep package clients start noticing positive changes within a few days to a week of implementing the sleep plan. Consistency and patience are essential during this process.
